Change of plans Part 1 here

18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:18-21

In “A Change of Plans: Part 1,” we talked about Mary’s change of plans. Today, we will take a quick look at Joseph.

Joseph had plans too. He would marry a beautiful young virgin and settle down with a family; Jewish tradition.

However, Mary returns from visiting her relative Elizabeth, about three months pregnant. (Luke 1:56)

All of Josephs plans must have crashed to the floor at this point. He decided to “divorce her quietly.” (Matthew 1:19)

However, while he was pondering these thoughts, an Angel of the Lord came to him in his dreams, changing the plans Joseph had formed.

Without hesitation, “Joseph awoke and did as the angel commanded him. He took to him his wife and did not have sexual relations with her, until her son was born. And Joseph named Him Jesus.” (Matthew 1:25 TLB)

Joseph fully submitted to the plans of God. There are so many ways this could have went, but he realized God’s plans were bigger than his own.

For Joseph to be blessed, he had to be obedient.

Plans change.

If God has given you a calling today and you have been running: STOP.

There is nowhere you can run, where God can’t find you.  Remember Jonah?

Walk in God’s plans for your life, allow Him to meet your needs.

Obey and leave the consequences to Jesus, because He knows what He is doing.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil,

to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12

Let’s pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose to give me life. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins opening my heart and life for You to come in. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.
