A burning desire! What is this fire?

I can’t do this anymore!

 Jeremiah 20:7-8

You deceived me, Lord, and I was deceived;
    you overpowered me and prevailed.
I am ridiculed all day long;
    everyone mocks me.
 Whenever I speak, I cry out
    proclaiming violence and destruction.
So the word of the Lord has brought me
    insult and reproach all day long.

A burning desire!

“I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.” Ezekiel 22:30. Are you willing to be that person?

Jeremiah doesn’t like his ministry anymore, because it comes with way too many problems for him. He’s in constant danger, no body likes him. Jeremiah can’t have a wife, the message of the false prophets, prophesying to the King Zedakiah of Judah, sounds better than his. Thus he begins to wish that he was never born.

Keep trying??

You keep trying to bring back the prodigals – preaching Jesus to your kids, to your brothers and sisters, to your mother and father, your friends. But nobody seems to be budging. In fact, you’re that person, right! They say, “here she goes again, or here he goes again”. Some of them even know what you’re going to say, before you say it.

Some of you don’t have any friends, because people think you’re to clean and you light is too bright. Sometimes you will have to walk alone and what I mean is that you might be the only one walking the narrow path in your environment, but God says, “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one. Are you willing to be that person, until Jesus calls you home? Good question?

Jeremiah said I can’t do this anymore! You touched my mouth and put your words on my lips Lord, but I didn’t know that this is what I signed up for.  People want to kill me, for this message you got me preaching.

He said, “I told myself, that I would no longer preach in that name.” I’m not posting one more message about repentance on Facebook only 2 people follow me now!”

I Can’t Hold it Back!

Jeremiah 20:9

But if I say, “I will not mention his word
  or speak anymore in his name,”
his word is in my heart like a fire,
    a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
    indeed, I cannot.

 Jeremiah’s saying, “They wanted me to shut up, but I couldn’t shut up if I wanted to, because there is a fire shut up in my bones.  I can’t explain it and I can’t contain it, but I have to proclaim it – the word that you Lord have put in my heart.

Just because it feels good doesn’t mean that it is good, somebody needed to hear that.  I know you heard it before, but you needed to hear it right now!

The Good Life?

I can’t think of one person in the bible who had a calling or a ministry, that was always pleasant.  King David had to run from his kingdom, before he could be king, Joseph had to be a slave, before he could be in charge of nation.  I’m not talking about moving up the ladder in ministry.  I’m talking about the fact that once the glamour of your calling is gone can you stand can you still walk in it.  Tough question, but here’s what the bible says in Philippians 2:13, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”

Don’t ignore the fire of the Holy Spirit!
