Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Matthew 5:9

What is a peacemaker?

Someone who is actively seeking to reconcile people to God and to one another.

Jesus wants us to be peacemakers, that means living peacefully among all people with all that is within us.

Today’s society makes this very difficult indeed, but it is not beyond us. If we do our best, then we can’t go wrong, and if we succeed, we shall be called sons and daughters of God. That’s a peacemaker!

I love how a Rick Ezell, from Lifeway put it:

Peacemaking is not the Absence of conflict

Peace in the Bible is never to be confused with pacifism.

Avoidance of strife

Never are we instructed to run from conflict. Putting our head in the sand, hoping that the conflict will end, only delays the inevitable.

Appeasement of parties

The “peace at any price” mentality is far from biblical command. You can never make everyone happy all the time.

Accommodation of issues

The person who glosses over the problems, acting as if everything is alright when it is not is not a peacemaker.

As far as it depends on you

The Bible tells us, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18) Do your best to be a peaceful person, and God will bless you. Even when those around you can’t be peaceful, you must be the example. We are not door mats, but let’s live out our faith the way Jesus did. Love God, love people!

Amen.

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
