Go!

Preach

Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.

Acts 8:1-4

Stephen the martyr, had just been stoned to death and Saul, who later became an apostle for Jesus Christ, encouraged his brutal execution.  Stephen had the shortest ministry, but he did not waste the time God gave him – he fulfilled his purpose. The previous chapter of Acts tells us that Stephen told the Jewish leaders of the Sanhedrin – the former religious government of Israel, that he saw “Jesus standing at the right hand of God”. Jesus was already ready to receive His good and faithful servant and He honored Stephen by standing up for him. This was the only time recorded in the bible, where God stands up on His throne.

But why did Stephen have to die? Why did God allow the Church to suffer persecution and death? What the enemy meant for evil, God turned it around for good.

Jesus’ command was for His believers to, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel”, and to make, “…disciples of all nations…”. At this time the Church was in one area and the Gospel needed to reach the world, so God allowed a temporary evil, to produce a multitude of Christians in the future.

We’re here because of them!

This event is part of the reason why the Church of Jesus Christ is all over the world today.  The early Christians were energized by their persecution, death, and grief to preach the Gospel and bring millions of people to Christ. They had the passion of Christ!

Ask yourself, “What am I doing for Jesus Christ?” Is there a co-worker or a friend, who God has put on your heart to tell them the “good news”? Has God called you to be an evangelist, pastor, minister, bible teacher, preacher, missionary, etc.?

What are you not doing for Jesus Christ? Every Christian is called to preach the gospel, to fulfill the “Great Commission”- to share their faith.

Do it Now!

Whatever we are going to do for God, we need to do it now, because time is running out and Jesus Christ is coming back very soon. Once the Church is taken out of this world, we won’t be able to help anybody on earth, and bible tells us that this world will be full of chaos and destruction. God’s wrath will be poured out on all those who have not put their faith in Jesus Christ. There are still many people who need to hear the gospel. Will you tell them?

Jesus says, “Go!”

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior, then receive Him now. Your citizenship will be in heaven and you will become a child of God.

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

SAY this beginning PRAYER:

God I’m a sinner and right now I turn from my sins. I ask you to forgive my sins, that I may be right with you. I believe that Jesus Christ: lived, died and that He rose from the dead. Right now, I ask you Jesus to be my Savior and Lord, that I may have eternal life in heaven. Thank you God for saving me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

The Day After the Resurrection

Resurrection

25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written

John 21:25

We can never stop counting the miracles and blessings of Jesus Christ in our lives. We can’t even mention every single thing that God has done for us, and the truth is, that there are many things that He’s done that we don’t even know about. Things God has protected us from while we were growing up as kids and the “bullets” that we dodged as adults – depending on what age you are. Because God has been protecting us, we are alive today!

Reminders

This was the day after the resurrection and Jesus had already “threw down” on the grill – making fish for breakfast. Jesus reminded the disciples about everything He had done before His death and taught them many other things.

The question is why does God have to remind us? It’s because we sometimes lose sight of what God has done, because there’s more that we desire in life, but when Jesus Christ died on the cross that was more than enough for us. We didn’t even deserve that!

Our God is the God of grace, and that means, that He blesses us even though we didn’t earn the blessings, and He provides for us because He loves us as His children.

Jesus is Still Working

God is not limited to what country you live in, or to what you can bring to the table. He is our Heavenly Father, who richly supplies us with every good thing, if we delight in Him!

These blessings that He gives are not all based on money and material things, either. God knows what we don’t know we need, even before we need it. So therefore, He is intentional about everything He does.

The work of Jesus Christ did not end, when He rose from the dead and ascended to His thrown, but it continued through His apostles and now through His Church – the Body of Christ. We must continue His work and finish it – individually and collectively. Even so, Lord Jesus, come!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. 10 As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”

Acts 1:8-9

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior, then receive Him now. Your citizenship will be in heaven and you will become a child of God.

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

“The Blood is Still the Blood”(Cover) By: Randomnestfamily

Who killed Jesus?

Jesus Preached in The Depths

Jesus

Some years back, while heading the street ministry team with my husband for a previous church, we came across the question: What about those who lived and died before Jesus came to bring salvation?

What did Jesus do in those 3 days that He was “Dead?”

Jesus “went to preach to the spirits in prison (1 Peter 3:18-20),” that is the abyss – the spiritual prison for those who died before.  Jesus died for all those before and after Him. He died ONCE FOR ALL SIN, although He was innocent Himself; so that He might bring us all – those who believe, safely home to God.

But though His body was dead for 3 days, His Spirit lived on “and it was in the spirit that he visited the spirits in prison and preached to them—spirits of those who, long before in the days of Noah, had refused to listen to God, though he waited patiently for them while Noah was building the ark.”  (1Peter 3:18-20)

The GOOD NEWS was preached to those who were dead, so that although their bodies were punished with death, their spirits could live as Christ lives. For we are all spiritual beings; now when we die, our spirits either rest with Christ if we were true believers, or face eternal suffering if we denied Him, in the Lake of Fire with the devil.  (1 Peter 4:6, 2 Cor. 5:8, Matt. 10:33, Rev. 20:14)

50And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

Matthew 27:50-53

The Disciples Didn’t Die for A Lie

Death could not hold Him down. The depths couldn’t keep him, because by the power of the living God, He rose from the dead and that stone covering His tomb was rolled away. Our Savior lives and is seated on His heavenly throne, eager to wrap up all prophecy and reign on earth.

The bible says that Jesus came at just the right time and of course, Israel had to be a nation in order for Jesus to be persecuted by the Jews and Romans. So a 500 year old prophecy, by Isaiah was fulfilled with exact precision. Jesus was able to be born by the virgin Mary, crucified – as if that was a privilege, and buried in a rich man’s tomb (Joseph of Arimathea), who was a Pharisee – the Jewish group that despised Jesus, but Jesus had undercover followers.

Jesus’ death killed the faith of His disciples, but His resurrection brought their faith back to life. If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, the disciples, would have never written the New Testament, there would be no church and no such thing as a Christian. But not only did Jesus die and rise from the dead, but because He was resurrected the disciples lived and died for Jesus.

Many people will die for something that they believe is true, but no one would be willing to die for what they know is a lie. So, the disciples knew that Jesus died on the cross and was buried, but unless they saw Jesus alive, they would not be willing to preach a false resurrection and be beaten, tortured, and killed, which all but one disciple experienced (John the beloved/ revelator).

Live Resurrected

When Jesus came riding into Jerusalem on a donkey the people laid down their clothes and palm branches for Jesus to ride in on. What are you willing to lay down for Jesus Christ? What things, or areas do you still have in your life that you have been hiding from God, that you know you need to lay down, so that Christ can lift you up?

Don’t let another Resurrection Day/Easter pass over you, without allowing the Gospel of Jesus Christ purify your heart and mind. Let us not forget, that our old self and all of it’s ways, were buried when we received salvation through Jesus Christ, and our new self has been made alive in Christ.

Let us share with others – the hope that is found in our resurrected Savior Jesus Christ! This is one of the evidences of a true believer – the Gospel urges them to testify and be a witness of what the Lord has done!

5But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

Matthew 28:5-7

Amen!

Salvation Plan

Amen!

Homeschool And Work Permits

Are you an homeschool parent finding yourself needing a work permit for your student to obtain a side job?

Labor laws and work permit requirements are different in every state. How can your child obtain a permit?

By State

Labor laws are made by state. Depending on where you live, the employment age will differ. You must take in consideration the type of Certificate Issued by each state. You want your student to at least have a 2.0 gpa, before considering them to work. You as the parent can make that decision.

The U.S. Department of labor has a break down by state that you can refer to listed here: Employment/Age Certificate | U.S. Department of Labor (dol.gov).

Work Permits in General

Only children who are employed under the age of 18 need a work permit.

California

Exceptions:

  • If a student has graduated from high school or passed the California High School Proficiency Exam even if the student is under 18 years old.
  • Self-employed minors.
  • Minors working in agricultural or domestic jobs where their parents own, operate, or control the business.
  • Minors who deliver newspapers, work at small jobs like yard work, baby-sitting, or in private homes where the minor is not regularly employed.

All work permits are issued individually. If your child or student has two jobs, both require a work permit, if they change jobs, a new permit must be submitted. The work permit is then valid for five days after the opening of the next school year.

If you are an HSLDA Member, they have tons of articles on obtaining an work permit as a homeschooler. However, the most important ones are only available to their members and have attorney advice per state. So this is an awesome perk for a membership there.

For the sake of this article, meant for homeschool parents looking for a work permit for their students, not for employers, I will give the basics. If you are enrolled in a Private Satellite School, like, Homeschool With Us, then they will help you obtain a work permit, and fill out the required forms. However, not all PSP’s offer a work permit due to the certification process. If this is your case, keep reading below to see where you can obtain yours.

Where Can I Get A Permit?

Mostly, principals of a public or private school must  self-certify that they understand the laws related to work permits, before they can issue work permits to students enrolled in their schools. The principal may also authorize another administrator to issue the permits, especially if it is their own child that needs a permit (principals and administrators cannot issue permits to their own children). This means that most students will obtain a work permit from their own schools.

If your child can not get a work permit from their school, you have two options:

  1. They can obtain a permit from the  superintendent of the school district in which the student resides.
  2. Any work experience education teacher or person who holds a services credential with a specialization in pupil personnel services, so long as the person issuing the permit has written authorization by the school district superintendent to issue permits.

Exceptions would be if you don’t live in an area under a school district authority, then you can access a permit from your county superintendent of schools or any certificated work experienced education teacher or coordinator, or any person who holds a services credential with a specialization in pupil personnel services. However, that person giving out the permit, must be authorized by the county superintendent of schools in writing.

What does this mean for my homeschooler?

Parents are not allowed to issue work permits to their own children. The permits must be from a school administrator who is not their own parent.

If your child is enrolled in a public school program of any sort or a charter school, they can simply go to the administration there.

If you are not in a PSP or charter school, obtain your Childs work permit in the ways described earlier.

Similar, you can ask an additional administrator to issue permits. The HSLDA advises that, “Nothing in the law prohibits a private school from adding new administrators at any time. Thus, a homeschool parent who is the principal of his own family-sized school could add an administrator to his school staff. In order for the new administrator to issue permits, he must meet the self-certification process and must be authorized by the principal (you or your spouse) to issue permits.”

See their article for more help, if you want to know about certification process and more. Or you can contact us for help, and acquire a homeschool consultation.

Run, Walk, Stand, and Be Still Part 2: “Walk”

How are we supposed to walk as Christians? What does a Christian life look like? Well, it can actually look different from one Christian to the next.

I had bought some nice Puma running shoes from Costco for under $30 and they go with all of my sweats. it’s something about having workout clothes when you work out, you feel good about the exercise and sometimes that alone makes you want to do more. There are certain clothes for certain occasions. You don’t work out in heals, or church shoes – your feet will burn.

In the same way as a Christian we have to walk as a Christian.

The way people walk nowadays is by counting their steps and how many of you know that when you’re keeping track of your steps and you see how many calories that you’ve burned, it actually makes you want to challenge yourself to do more and do better. This is what I’ve heard. My boss told me several times that I should count my steps, because my job requires me to walk a lot, but have I done it? NO, but I need to. It’s a good idea!

The bible tells us in Galatians 5:25,

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. NKJV

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” NIV

This means that we must walk as we talk. We have to do what we say we believe. Practice what we preach.

When you walk as a Christian, it’s not like an unbeliever, they don’t have to resist the temptation, but we have to carry our own cross as we walk through life.

2 Corinthians 11:24-28

24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. 27 I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked. 28 Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Do you boast in your weaknesses or are you covering them up? According to the Bible we should be rejoicing in our weaknesses, because God’s power is made perfect and we become stronger.

Yes, you can live without the victory that Christ says we’re supposed to have as a Christian!

Our walk as Christians is step by step. One step at a time. Why, because every step is a decision to do or not to do something based on our values, and as a Christian our values have to be based on the bible.

Jesus told the people in Matthew 5:20,

“For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Why weren’t these Pharisees worthy of the kingdom of God? It’s because they were hypocrites and compromisers. They made up excuses and good sounding reasons for breaking the law of God, but in Matthew 23:15, Jesus called them a “child of hell”.

Satan Desires to Sift you!

This is exactly where the enemy wants us. Satan wants us to always be barely making it with God, devoting most of our time to the cares of the world and NO it’s not just the big sins, it’s those little compromises, like: working so much overtime at work that you have no time for your relationship with God, over-treating yourself with too many fun activities and entertainment, eating out every day and buying all the latest fashion and technology, but claiming that you can’t afford to pay tithes and offering, or even make it to church, and always putting God off instead of putting on the Lord Jesus Christ as the bible says, because you’ve filled up your to do list that has no room for God.

Did you know that satan is always walking around and he’s patient, and the bible says, “…as a roaring lion”? He has all the wrong intentions for your life? I’ve read that lions can stalk their prey and stay hidden for up to an hour, and I use this only to illustrate my point. I talk about satan and some people don’t believe he’s real, or they water down the effects that the demonic realm can have on our life – if we let them, but did you know that you’re like delicious meat to these demons and they’re going in for the kill.  But what are they trying to kill? Your faith, because, “it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith…”  If they can kill your faith, they can kill your effectiveness as a Christian in this world, your blessings from God, your testimony that would otherwise bring more people to Jesus, and ultimately if you allow the devil to finish the process, as Jesus said, “you will lose your very own soul.

The bible says in Ephesians 6:12,

“we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

If you are watching your steps, as a believer in Jesus Christ, and putting into practice what the bible says about Christian living, then you will have the victory in your life.

God is not marking you down for every mistake that you make, but He does command us to learn from them, repent, and live a godly life.

Another thing that is super important, when talking about these spiritual exercises is rest and it’s not that you’re taking a break from God – we should never do that, but physical rest: getting enough sleep, eating on time, taking breaks from energy draining activities.

Dr. Charles Stanley has this acronym that you should think about, before you respond or react and It’s called, “H.A.L.T”.

Are you hungry, angry, lonely or tired? We have to examine ourselves, because we can do and say things that we wouldn’t normally do if certain areas of our lives are out of whack. I don’t know if you’ve ever snapped on somebody – usually it’s those closest to you and you thought about it like, “Where did that come from?”. Well, many times it’s because we’re not taking care of ourselves.  Some of this is practical stuff, and I believe that I’m talking to real people, who are not perfect in all their ways!

When we don’t rest our trials can feel like a hurricane, even though they are only scattered showers.  To resist the effects of our trials, we have to watch our step as we walk.

Our spiritual rest would be, not being so church service minded that we don’t serve ourselves with personal devotional time with God, and if you have a family – you need to take care of this ministry first and then see how much other ministry work you can do in addition, that will allow you to remain responsible with the family God has given you. You can do something, but use wisdom.

That’s what me and my wife had to do. We wanted to make sure that we are serving God and not just, being people pleasers, trying to look good.  If you have kids, man time flies and you have to love your kids, love your spouse, and make sure they experience the love of God through you.

Jesus gives us a good measure on how we should serve God

Luke 14:27-30

And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. 28“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. 30They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’

Don’t take on so much ministry that you can’t fulfill it and don’t waste your faith by being lazy, because God does not honor a lazy servant, (Matthew 25:14-30) that’s a must read.

With that said!

Here are 4 main ways we should walk as a Christians and I want you to feel free to write in the comments other ways the Bible says that we should walk:

  1. Walk with your Cross (Luke 14:27) – Be Faithful to God even through hard times
  2. Walk: Not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1, 4) – So that we won’t be condemned like the world.
  3. By faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7) – Faith is the substance of things hoped for Heb 11:1. You must believe for that thing that you desire for God to do for you, even if it looks impossible. After Jesus rose from the dead, He said, “…blessed are those who believe and have not yet seen.” Jesus described real faith in one line.
  4. Walk in good works (Eph 2:10) – The bible says that, we have become a new creation in Christ, and God has already prepared good works for us to do. We are the hands and feet of Jesus, who has reached out to us to reach out to others, so that His kingdom will be full.
  5. Walk in victory (1 John 5:4) “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” – We always win when we have relentless faith.
  6. Walk and fight | The mind is a Battlefield – The bible says change you thinking!

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

7.Walk with God

The bible says, in Genesis 5:24

“Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”

In bible we see the “blessed hope” that every Christian has, that whether we live or die, Jesus will soon take out of this wicked world to be with Him, just like Enoch and we will never have to suffer again. Even if we die, none of us will miss the Rapture!

Salvation plan

If you have not accepted the promise of salvation that only comes through Jesus Christ, Satan wants to make you numb to the effects that sin has on your life, so that He can destroy you, but Jesus wants you to rise up and walk for Him. The bible says that if you repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ, then you become a child of God and when you die you go to heaven. God says today is the day of Salvation, tomorrow is too late! Don’t wait to be saved. Receive Jesus today!!!

Amen!

Faithful Till the End

What is Jesus really saying?

And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. Let the one who does wrong still do wrong, and the one who is filthy still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous still practice righteousness, and the one who is holy still keep himself holy. Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to reward each one as his work deserves. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Revelation 22:10-13 NASB

Faithful Till the End

It is as simple as this: Jesus desires those who will be faithful to continue faithfully following Him. He isn’t worried about the unfaithful, or the ones who will never come to Him. Can you relate to that? Promises made, promises kept! He is faithful, will you?

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose to give me life. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins opening my heart and life for You to come in. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.

6 Tips To Homeschool Planning

When it comes to homeschool planning, you can never know too much. I wrote an article call “How to Schedule A Homeschool Day,” with various schedules and information on how to accomplish a full day.

So, this article will add on to that one. Today, I am giving you five very descriptive tips to homeschool planning.

6 Tips to homeschool planning @randomnestfamily.org

Tip #1

Do not plan too far ahead

I love to plan; everything is a planning opportunity for me in some fashion or another. Planning makes me feel like I have control. Most of the time, I only accomplish those things I love to do first, and everything else gets backlisted for another time. Anyone out there like that?

For this very reason, keeping track of my students grades can be backlisted. Why? I enjoy doing it, but it’s not the first thing I jump to. I have added a very good tip that helps me do this later in the article.

Why don’t you want to plan too far ahead? The first reason is that this creates more flexibility. Ever had school assignments and projects written down and you didn’t make it them, only to have even more things planned the next day? This can drive homeschool parents mad.

By only planning a week at a time, no more than a month at a time, you give yourself flexibility to pick up the next day, without being overwhelmed, and overwhelming your students. Never attempt to give your kids double the work because something was missed the previous day. Just pick up where you left off! This is the beauty of homeschool. The public-school systems attempt to do this all the time; however, many students end up falling behind. We are in the business of helping our children learn.

How To Schedule A Homeschool Day image from Randomnestfamily.org

If you plan this way, whatever is missed that you really wanted to get into, can be picked up in next week’s planning or next month’s planning. Don’t plan more than you have too!

If you have older kids, try the bullet point planning discussed in the “How to Schedule A Homeschool Day.”

If you have sick days, Homeschool Late Start, will have tons of advice for you. Remember, if you need a break, take it! I hope to have an article about homeschool burnout soon! Be sure to join our newsletter to be notified.

Tip #2

Textbook Teaching?

No problem! When scheduling assignments, chapters, and review questions in a textbook, try to only plan sections per subject, no more than one chapter at time. Don’t overdo it. I am not a textbook homeschooler, but there is nothing wrong with using textbooks. Especially if your students love them. If they are learning, use it.

Let's teach at Randomnestfamily

Plan these assignments based on how your students are doing academically. Some chapters can be very long. Therefore, you can find younger children, and some older children, becoming bored. If this is the case, Shorten the lessons, as advised to sections.

Tip #3

Record keeping

In “Homeschool Late Start,” I talked about record keeping and gave tips on keeping up with your records. But sometimes you need help, if you don’t have a system or PSP (Private Satellite School),  who can help you stay on track, you need to develop a habit of tracking. If you do not, you will become overwhelmed when it is time to gather up those grades for your records, and it can throw your homeschool off track. You will need to take days or a week off, just to organize and fulfill record keeping, which is a requirement in homeschooling. Especially as your child advances to the next grade.

If you find yourself needing this type of help and more, join Homeschool Randomnestfamily, the parents who just want to homeschool.

My best tip for recording keeping, is this tried and tested method, I began implementing last year: Have a week planned every month, where you are scanning in your students assignments, photos of projects, and recording test. Take this time to update their attendance as well. You will be amazed at how easy your year goes.

Keep your records safe! This device backs up your files and comes with an emergency recovery plan.

When scanning and recording records, be honest with yourself. You are the teacher, what has your student(s) been slacking on? What are their greatest academic qualities?  Scan the good, bad, and ugly into their records for yourself. This shows improvements across every subject. Even scan covers of books and curriculums you are using. Why? Maybe you all hated it and do not want to ever go back. A few years from now, maybe you will. I even scan the fronts of my students notebooks in notebooking.

Tip #4

Keep It New

Do not keep the same routine if you do not have too!

If you find that you or your kids are starting to become bored with the routine, change it up!

bored kid
Bored of everything?

How? Create a new schedule. Find out what your kids like the most and build around those subjects.

For example, my girls love language arts, art, science, and social studies, the most. What does that leave out, besides their extracurricular activities? Math! So, we opt to do math class first. I take the time to start with my younger students in the beginning. This way, I can give them a break before the next subjects as I am teaching my fifth graders math.

Math is one of those subjects you really can’t teach with all your students. This is because there are different levels and therefore, everyone has their own.

After that, I can group my children together for the other subjects, or if I want a mommy-teacher break, they can grab a workbook and get started with any subject they desire. The hard part is done. Only you know your students strengths and weaknesses.

Keep it new by grouping and planning to what makes your own homeschool family happy. Again, this is the beauty of homeschooling.

Tip #5

Get It Done

If your kids are independent, create a “Get It Done” basket, or as some has called this, the “morning basket.” These are things your kids or students can do on their own and can start whenever they want. For instance, if you sleep in one morning, they know to grab their baskets and get that work done.

In our “Get It Done” basket, I have cursive, reading comprehension, art books, and readers. Some parents of high school kids can add newspaper articles with current events around the world, even sketchbooks for drawing. Your homeschool, you decide!

Back to school picture @Randomnestfamily.org

No matter what, your kids know that this is what they can do with out you. If they are coming to you asking for help, remove these items from the basket. They should be distraction free to you. I do have a family vlog that shows our basket and how we homeschooled throughout the summer without “really” homeschooling. Something we do to help our kids not fall behind in the summer, and that I will be implementing again, but this time, we can include outside activities.

Tip #6

Use What You Have, Not What You Don’t

Do not feel as if you need to go out and buy fancy planners or posters. They are nice at first, but as the homeschool year goes on, you might find that you need them less. If this is the case, make your own.

I have both made my own and purchased one from a store. The pros of making my own: it is made to meet my personal needs. The pros of purchasing one: It is beautiful, but too extra. I feel guilty for not utilizing it all.

Instead, opt to save time and money buy making your own with a notebook, or printing only what you need. In fact, we have created various choices you can use in your own homeschool here. Print away for free. Find some other things to print that you might like. A favorite of my is the complete teachers planner from our third party, Christianbook.com. Its free for you to print and you only print what you need. See some of our picks below.

I hope this article has helped you see that homeschool planning doesn’t have to take a lot of work, and with a little creativity, your homeschool will be efficient in whatever you plan! Please share these tips with your homeschool community or family, no family should be intimidated by homeschooling.

+ Jesus is not late clock @randomnestfamily.org

Jesus is not Late

Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning…You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect…

But suppose the servant (you and I) says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he (we) then begins to beat the other servants (mistreat others), both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk. The master (the Lord) of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.”

(Luke12:35,40-46 ESV/NLV)
Jesus is not late clock @randomnestfamily.org

He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.”

Is this what we want to look forward to when the Lord returns? Many Christians seem to have forgotten that the Lord can come back at any time. When asked, “Do you think Christ would be proud of what you’re doing right now?” Most people have said, “Well…Maybe, not exactly.”  So, why do you do what you knowingly shouldn’t?

The world is full of idol worshipers and plenty of satanic worshiping, in which people will blatantly sell their souls for fame -thinking nothing of it. If they are willfully selling what isn’t theirs in the first place to satan, signing it off in blood, then they must know there is a God, an Almighty God. Yes, God has given us free will, to freely give ourselves to him. Not to this world.

Right is wrong, wrong is right?

Most people are so quick to do what’s wrong because they believe that they are not afraid. They think that if they can just get more people to do what they do or think how they think; then what they are doing isn’t wrong. They tease and scoff at God saying, “where is he?” Even discounting the Word of God to live in sin, blaspheming the Holy Spirit in all kinds of wretched ways. They become grave-yard dead, digging a deeper pit for themselves.

What they fail to understand is that “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

Jesus loves us all. Yes, he is waiting on all those who he chose to come to him. “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” (John6:44, Psalm 103:8)
However, the Lord is a jealous God, and he will take vengeance on his foes and enemies. (Nahum 1:2) So those people who do such things, should not think that they will get away. In fact, when WE as CHRISTIANS willfully sin against God, after knowing better, there is no longer a sacrifice for our sins. We make what Christ did for us null and void.  We can only live like unbelievers: “in fearful expectation of judgment and raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.” (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Who wants to live like that?

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God! There is no-longer an excuse for anyone because God has made himself know to all man. “God has put his laws in our minds and has written them on our hearts, so no one is without excuse.” (Hebrews 8:11-13, 10:31)

“But no one knows the date and hour when the end will be—not even the angels…. Only the Father knows.” (Matthew24:36TLB)

Amen.
