THE ELEMENTARY YEARS ARE FUN!
I’m officially dubbing the elementary school years the fun years. It wasn’t always that way for me, though. When we first started homeschooling, all I could think about was my own elementary school experience—the brightly decorated classrooms, the endless, structured days, and the curriculum that seemed to go on forever. So, naturally, we tried to recreate that setup at home. Thanks to Pinterest, it wasn’t too hard.
But let me tell you, that didn’t last long! We quickly realized that long, structured days and tedious curricula just weren’t going to work for our family. So, we ditched the “traditional school” model and embraced a more holistic, eclectic approach. Instead of following rigid norms, we created an education that fit our family’s rhythm—a tailor-made experience that scaled down the stress and amped up the learning.
Homeschooling elementary schoolers is an incredible opportunity to shape your child’s early educational journey. Having been through the process, I can confidently say these years are foundational—not just for academic skills but for sparking a genuine love of learning. In The Complete Guide on Homeschooling Elementary School, I break it down by grade level, from 1st to 5th grade. But beyond that, I’ll share my tips on how to customize your child’s education, helping you create a one-of-a-kind, tailor-made elementary experience that works for your family.
