22 Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. 23 After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.

There are different periods in our lives, when God allows a calmness to rest on us and we enjoy His peace, but other times, He has us get on a boat, in the middle of the sea and all of a sudden a storm comes and upsets our situation and it makes us wonder, “where did this come from?”.
Jesus knew this was going to happen, but God is all about shaking things up. Why? Because otherwise our faith would begin to settle and become stale and stagnant, then we would be like salt without season. No, God does not withhold every affliction from us.
The righteous person faces many troubles,
Psalm 34:19
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
Have you ever made a protein shake without mixing the powder with water or milk, or threw a pack of ground meat on a skillet without breaking it up and adding some kind of seasoning to it. Just like the protein shake and the ground meat won’t become what it was meant to be, unless certain things happen. You will not be the Christian you’re supposed to be, if God doesn’t stir you up. You don’t need peace if there is no unrest and when we need peace, we call on Jesus.
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
