Have you ever felt caught between where you were and where you believe God is taking you?

You cannot go backward, but you do not know how to move forward. You have prayed for direction, yet the next step has not become clear.

This is where waiting can begin to feel like limbo. Learning to trust God when waiting requires us to believe that uncertainty does not mean He has abandoned us.

During our own season of waiting, there were times when we knew something needed to change. We called out to God and believed He heard us, but we could not see how He would bring everything together.

We were waiting for direction while trying to remain faithful where we were.

How to Trust God When Waiting

Psalm 37:7 says:

Resting in the Lord does not mean that you stop caring about what happens. It means you stop allowing the uncertainty to control you.

When we do not know what comes next, we may feel pressure to make something happen. We search for a door, create a plan, or make a hurried decision because standing still feels unproductive.

But sometimes, standing still is exactly where God wants us.

When the children of Israel stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army behind them, they could not return to Egypt, and they could not cross the water on their own.

Moses told them:

They were trapped from their perspective, but God was not trapped.

What looked like an impossible place became the setting for His deliverance.

You may feel as though your life has been placed on hold, but God has not lost sight of you. He knows where you are, what stands behind you, and what appears impossible ahead of you.

This waiting place may feel uncertain, but it is not empty.

God can use it to strengthen your faith, quiet your fears, and teach you to recognize His direction. Your responsibility is not to create a way where you cannot see one. Your responsibility is to remain prayerful, obedient, and ready to move when He leads.

If God has not revealed the next step, continue faithfully with what He has already given you to do.

Do not mistake stillness for abandonment.

Do not allow uncertainty to push you ahead of God.

You may not know how He will open the way, but you can trust the One who does.

A Prayer While I Wait

Father, this season feels uncertain, and I do not know what comes next. Help me rest in You without allowing fear or impatience to lead me. Keep me faithful where I am, and give me the courage to move when You reveal the way forward. In Jesus’ name, amen.
