Have you ever prayed about something so long that you began wondering, “Lord, when are You going to move?”
We have.
There was a season in our lives when we prayed, sought God, and waited for Him to change our circumstances. We knew what we were asking for, and we believed He heard us. But as the days passed, we still had to wait.
Waiting is difficult, especially when you know God is able to change everything in a moment.
“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
Psalm 27:13–14 KJV
David said he would have fainted, or lost heart, if he had not believed. That is where faith meets waiting.
When we cannot see God moving, we have to remember that our inability to see what He is doing does not mean He is doing nothing.
God Is Still Working
During our season of waiting, we could only see things from our side. We saw the circumstances that had not changed. We saw doors that had not opened. We saw another day passing without the answer we were praying for.
God saw everything we couldn’t.
Looking back now, we know He heard us. We also know the waiting wasn’t wasted. But while we were living it, we had to trust Him without knowing how the story would end.
Maybe that is where you are today. You have prayed. You have waited. You have done what you know to do, but nothing seems to be moving.
Don’t allow the waiting to convince you that God has forgotten you. And don’t become so uncomfortable with waiting that you run ahead of Him just to make something happen.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength…”
Isaiah 40:31 KJV
Sometimes faith means moving when God says move. Sometimes faith means staying where you are until He does.
So keep praying. Keep obeying. Keep doing what God has already placed before you.
You may not know when He will move or how He will answer, but you know Who you are waiting on.
And sometimes, the testimony begins long before the answer arrives.
A Prayer While I Wait
Father, You know what I have been praying for and how long I have been waiting. Help me trust You when I cannot see what You are doing. Keep me from running ahead of You, strengthen my heart, and help me remain faithful until You show me the next step. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
