Have you ever said something you wish you didn’t say? You think over and over about it until it drives you mad; so now you wish you never said anything at all!

Our mouth: tongue, can get us into trouble.  Which is why the Bible tells us that not all of us should become teachers; when you slip up in Biblical teaching, “you shall receive a stricter judgment.” Not only from “man,” but God – especially if you refuse to correct yourself.  (James3:1)

Pride can play an enormous part in the corruption of the tongue.

No one can really perfectly control their tongue, unless they never say anything. The Bible tells us that “If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able to control the whole body.” (James 3:2,8)

Yet, the tongue is “a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire…” This is why when we listen to someone speak, we can almost get a clear view of who they are – loving, hateful, wicked, nasty, etc.

A person can look put together on the outside, until you hear the words coming from their mouth; proceeding from their heart and thoughts.

Even though we can’t be 100% in-control of our tongues, we can still control what comes out of our mouths.

Our heart controls what we feel and our thoughts come from our heart. So Jesus said, “Do you not understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed from the mouth come from the heart…for out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lying, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man.” (Matt15:17-20)

So What do we do?

But we are to love one another – the greatest commandment. “Love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).

When you don’t walk around with hateful or prideful thoughts towards yourself or others; LOVE can proceed from your mouth. You can talk to people without feeling regretful, you can TRULY pray for people when you say you will.

We are to be swift to HEAR, slow to speak and slow to anger, because our anger does NOT produce the righteousness of God.  We are to always let our “…speech be with GRACE, seasoned with salt, that we may know how to answer each other” (James 1:19, Col 4:6).

This is what the Lord wants us to do, as our voice was made to bless the Lord not to curse men or God. Let us take heed to how and what we say. Renew your mind. (Rom 12:2)

Lay aside all malice, dishonesty, envy, and all evil SPEAKING; desiring Gods Word as a baby desires milk, that we may GROW UP in our salvation. (1Peter 2:1-2)

In everything, pray that you decrease and that the Lord will increase in you. Be an example to believers in word, in doing so, you will not regret what you say to others.

Jesus Christ is the only one who can take away our sins. As it is written, Christ died for us while we were still sinners, so that our sins could be washed away by His blood. (Rom 5:8, John 3:16-17)

Receive the real LOVE of Christ. His gift is for anyone who receives it, only Christ can give you a new heart and mind. He makes all things new and ALL things are POSSIBLE with God (Rev 21:5, Matt 19:26).

Will you receive Him today?

If you are ready, say this starting prayer: confess it with your mouth and believe it with your heart.

Salvation Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose to give me life. Right now Lord, I turn from my sins, opening my heart and life for You to come in. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.
