There is Nothing Hidden
God is closer to us now than ever before. The bible says that, “Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 20:27 says,
Our spirit is the Lord’s lamp searching the inner rooms of our heart.
Proverbs 20:27
Whenever God sees the darkness flees from His sight! And see this is the reason why many people reject Jesus, because He sees them and they know it, no matter how much they deny His existence.
In John 3:19-20, Jesus says,
19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.
John 3:19-20
David continues in Psalm 139:13-18
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
Psalm 139:13-18
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!
All of our days were planned before we even began to exist and all our days were numbered to the very second. God’s perfect plan and purpose is His gift to us. He values our existence, but we need to acknowledge His.
Psalm 139:1-18 were written by David, to lead into his petition to God to get rid of his enemies.
19God, if only you would destroy the wicked!
Psalm 139:19-22
Get out of my life, you murderers!
20They blaspheme you;
your enemies misuse your name.
21 O Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you?
Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?
22 Yes, I hate them with total hatred,
for your enemies are my enemies.
Now this is descriptive of the way that David felt. Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for them, but here David craves righteousness. The wicked ways of his enemies brings grief to his spirit, but then he pauses in his brief rant about the wicked and checks himself.
Try Me
He says in verse 23-24,
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Psalm 139:23-24
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
He humbles himself, because he wants to make sure he’s right before God and he says God I need you to reveal unclean way in me, “take it all away God”!
Try Me God! This was David’s posture and practice.
Whatever you’re going through today, whatever you’re facing lay it before God. You can’t do anything with it. The pain in your heart that has held you down, the sin that has held you down, the anger, bitterness and unforgiveness. Don’t hold it in. Jesus says, “Whoever the Son sets free, is free indeed!”
Try God today! He will do what He said He will do.
Jesus Tests Our Loyalty
Jesus asked His disciples after all of John’s disciples left Him, he said,
John 6:67-69 “Are you also going to leave?”
68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”
John 6:67-69
What are you going to do? I know what I’m going to do! I’m going to continue to ask God to:
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxieties;
24And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Proverbs 51:10
Make this your daily check-up. God will purify you and transform you, He will use you greatly for His work and bless you.
Where can you go? Go to God!
