Have you ever had a hard time trying to teach your kids or students the Christmas Story?

Every year, my family enjoys reading the Book of Luke which includes the complete Christmas story as we know it. However, not every family is able to deep dive into an entire Gospel around this time of year, so we created this 7-day Family Bible Study so you and your family can still enjoy the true Christmas story and grow closer as a family in Christ, together!

A Weeklong Study

As we gather around the glow of Christmas lights and the warmth of our family traditions, itโ€™s the perfect time to pause and reflect on the real reason we celebrate this season: the incredible story of Jesusโ€™ birth. This weeklong study is designed to bring the wonder of that first Christmas right into your home, making it a time of connection, learning, and joy for every family member, whether theyโ€™re a curious preschooler or a thoughtful teenager.

Explore the promises of a Savior!

Together, weโ€™ll dive into the Scriptures to see how God planned this miraculous event long before that silent night in Bethlehem. Your family will explore the promises of a Savior, meet the faithful people God chose to carry out His plan, and marvel at how God orchestrated every detail, from a stable in Bethlehem to angels singing in the fields.

But this study is about more than head knowledge. Itโ€™s an invitation to embrace Christmas in your hearts by seeing Jesus for who He is: our Savior, our King, and the greatest gift weโ€™ll ever receive. Along the way, there will be moments to laugh, to wonder, and to deepen your faith as a family.

About This Study

This family Bible study is created like our other popular Focus On Your Family: Family Bible Studies, in that it helps you teach your kids or students in a way thatโ€™s convenient for your family or classroom.

Parent and Teacher Prompts:

Although created for family Bible study, this study can be tailored to the classroom too.

Parent prompts help you know what to say and keep you on track. Feel free to read the lessons ahead to make sure you get a clear picture of what is to come and any assignments you might want to assign or give for that lesson.

Activities:

Activities are included to keep little ones engaged while listening, while also being fun for the older student who loves to color or doodle.

Optional Family Questions:

Created so your family can reflect on what was just learned. Each question comes with the answer or though there could be more answers, to make teaching easier, and lessons faster for little ones who canโ€™t sit still long.

Parents/teachers: When we use the bold burgundy color, we are asking you to do something, such as tell an experience or give an example to your child or student.

Parents, Teachers, and Older Students: Dive Deeper:

Optional, but created so you can dive deeper into Scriptures and learn more about a subject or topic discussed in the lesson. Helping you grow and advance in your faith. These can also be assignments for older students and teens to help them learn more and maybe get some school credit for them!

Coloring Pages and Craft:

This study comes with eight coloring pages, one scripture cursive wring page, one question and answer page, one Memory Verse Card (to assign scriptures for your kids or students to memorize and study, based on age and grade level) and a Build Your Own Nativity Craft.

The assignments are age based and are determined by you what your child can and should do, as every child is different and learns at different levels.

All Assignments are meant to give your child something to reflect on, based on what the lesson was about. However, you can do them in any order you like. These are not meant to be stressful, but free flowing so your can enjoy your time together this Christmas. All you need is a few art supplies!

We use the NIV in this study to better understand the Bible and teach all ages unless otherwise noted.

Letโ€™s embark on this beautiful journey to the manger!

As you guide your family through these lessons, let them see your love for Jesus shine. It doesnโ€™t matter if your voice cracks while singing a carol or if your little one’s wiggle during story time (psst, thatโ€™s what my fun worksheets are for). What matters is that your home or classroom becomes a place where the true meaning of Christmas, Godโ€™s love for us through Jesus, is celebrated with open hearts.

So, grab your Bibles, gather the kids, and letโ€™s embark on this beautiful journey to the manger. Christmas is calling us, and itโ€™s more than tinsel and gifts, itโ€™s the story of the greatest love ever told. Letโ€™s discover it together!
