“Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”

Matthew 18:21 NLT

Day 6

It’s Day 6 of our 25 Days of Christmas Kindness series, which is a part of our Focus on Your Family: Family Bible Study.

If you did the previous days, don’t forget to leave a comment over there. We want to know how your family is being a blessing to others, share your testimonies!

After Peter asked the question in the scripture above, Jesus told His disciples a story to explain why He commands us to forgive others and show mercy. In his story, a king forgave his servant of a huge amount of debt, that he could not pay back. When the servant was forgiven, he went on his way and was ungrateful for the mercy he was shown. His fellow servant owed him money and instead of showing mercy as the king did for him, he had him thrown in prison until he could pay him back. In the end, the servant of the king paid for his hypocrisy.

In Matthew 5:7, Jesus says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” We could never afford to pay for our sins. Our bill was too high, and we were hopeless. Then Jesus came and carried our sins to the cross so that those who believe in Him would be innocent before God and accepted into the kingdom of heaven.

Today’s act of  Christmas Kindness is:
