Reading God’s Word takes a sacrifice of your time, so does everything else. So, the question is: what do you value most? If studying God’s word just doesn’t fit into your busy schedule, then your schedule is too busy.
We should always prioritize God’s word into our menu for the day, because if we are not feeding on God’s word, then we are starving our spirit and being influences by the world. “You are what you eat”.
We work so hard to check as many things off, on our list of things to do. What if we put that same effort towards setting aside a slot of time in our day to spend time with God in prayer, reading the bible and giving Him the worship He deserves? Our daily sacrifice!
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2
The only way to “renew our mind”, is through meditating on God’s word. Studying the bible purges out worldly thinking and downloads godly wisdom into our minds, to live for Jesus Christ. If you allow junk from the world to enter into your mind and your eyes, then that is what will eventually come out.
The Word of God is living and breathing. It never changes, yet it is always relevant. My pastor put it this way: The Word of God is mirror that gives us a reflection of our lives. When we read the Bible, we are essentially allowing the Word of God to expose us. This allows us to examine ourselves and see where we need correction and where the Lord can grow us, or bring healing into our lives. Will you make time for God today?
My Prayer:
Lord, I pray that your people will turn to Your Word to guide their lives. I pray that they will take heed to what it says and allow Your Word to transform them inside and out.
Lord, I pray that those who have lagged in their reading, will give it a new start with fresh eyes, minds, and a renewed spirit. I pray that by reading Your Word, they receive revelations and that the Holy Spirit will lead them and guide them in their readings.
I pray that Your Word become a lamp unto their feet and a light unto their path. (Ps 119:105)
For those who have never picked up a Bible, Father I pray that you would compel them to do so. That they are given a GREAT hunger and thirst to study Your Word.
In Jesus Christ holy name I pray.
Amen.
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
