Bad news. What do we do with bad news? Do we accept it as reality?
Nobody wants bad news, but it comes when we least expect it. How we deal with it is very important.
About 5 years ago, we received a letter in the mail threatening to put our family out of our apartment. We just had our 4th baby, making us a family of 6 in a two bedroom. We had 90 days.
Feeling afraid, frantic, and defeated, I sat down with my Bible praying for a word, so the Lord lead me to 2 Kings 19.
King Hezekiah, had just received bad news. A letter from an evil king blaspheming Holy God, and threatening annihilation on God’s people. Remarkably, Hezekiah takes the letter to the temple, spreads it before the Lord, prays -giving reverence to God with honor and praise; telling Him what was on his mind. (2 Kings 19:14-19, see Phil 4:6)
God came through in a SUPERNATURAL way for Hezekiah, and He did the same for my family, as we copied Hezekiah’s example. Isn’t it wonderful to be in God’s Word!
“Oh, praise the Lord, for He has listened to my pleadings! He is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trusted in Him, and He helped me. Joy rises in my heart until I burst out in songs of praise to Him.”
Ps 28:6-7
Remember, God already knows what’s going on. He wants us to come to Him and talk/pray to Him. Always pray God’s WILL be done. Be content with His “No’s,” as well as His “Yes’s.”
Many Christians are disappointed when they’ve prayed so hard, petitioned so hard, felt like God was going to do it, and He didn’t. Never praying for God’s WILL to be done, and accepting His answer.
We cannot command, or will Him to do something. God created ALL things, He knows the outcome and the future. This is why Jesus came to save us, this is why a body and a name was prepared before God created man. (Hebrews 10:5-7, John 17:11)
Don’t be afraid, or hindered, to petition at the altar, or in your prayer closets. Bring your news before the Lord, spread it out before Him; lift your hands in praise and worship!
Pray God’s Will
Let’s pray God’s WILL be done in EVERY situation. Let’s accept His answer; He ALWAYS has the last say, and our battles are not our own, we’ve ALREADY won! The Lord is getting us to where we need to be mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Trust His outcome, for His grace is sufficient for us, and His power is perfected in our weakness. (2 Chron 20:15, Rom 8:37, 2 Cor 12:9)
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He WILL never let the righteous be shaken…Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with THANKSGIVING, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Ps 55:22, Phil 4:6-7)
If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are living hopeless.
“Come to Me and I WILL give you REST—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear My yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let Me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall FIND rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.”

Salvation Plan
Receive Jesus now. Your citizenship will be in heaven and you will become a child of God.
Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
SAY this beginning PRAYER:
God I’m a sinner and right now I turn from my sins. I ask you to forgive my sins, that I may be right with you. I believe that Jesus Christ: lived, died and that He rose from the dead. Right now, I ask you Jesus to be my Savior and Lord, that I may have eternal life in heaven. Thank you God for saving me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
We hope this devotion has inspired you!
Love,
