Was God One of Us?

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ ”)

John 1:14-15

Jesus was not always Jesus, He was and still is the “Word!” The Apostle John testifies that He was from the beginning. John the Baptist testifies that Jesus was before him even though John was born six months before Jesus.

The Holy Trinity and God-head consist of the Power, the Spirit, and the Word of God. We now know them by the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three persons are one God but can perform different works. We find the Spirit of God hovering over waters of the deep in the first chapter of the book of Genesis. The Power sits as the righteous Judge on His throne in heaven, as He operates through the Holy Spirit and the Word.

The Word came down to be born into the world to be born of the virgin Mary, sacrificing Himself for the world. Then the angel told Joseph to call His name Jesus. This fulfilled the prophecies of the old testament that foretold the first coming of the Messiah.

We read about the Trinity of God making the decision to make mankind in Genesis 1:26-27.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 1:26-27

God created mankind in His own image, but one day He knew that He would have to become a man to save them. He became the God-Man, Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man. The bible says

God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

1 Peter 1:20

And

All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

Revelation 13:8

Then the writer of Hebrews says,

In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him,

“You are my Son;

today I have become your Father.”

Hebrews 5:5

We Were Hopeless

The birth of Jesus Christ was God’s personal and desperate attempt to save the world, but only those who receive His Son would be saved from the curse of sin which is eternal death. This was a one-time deal. Jesus did this once and for all so that all of God’s children could be reunited with Him forever.

For the Bible says,

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

John 3:18

So Jesus was born to die so that we could be born again. Jesus became the Son of God so that those who believed in Him could become children of God. God became a man in every way to live the sinless life that we couldn’t live so that we could have eternal life. Then, after Jesus died on the cross He rose from the dead so that when we die we too will be resurrected.

The Christmas story deserves to be told. Tell your family and friends, that because Jesus Christ was born they can be born again. We hope you enjoy this Christmas season! God bless you!

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
