And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time [of their fulfillment] is near. 11 Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy (vile, impure), still be filthy; and the one who is righteous (just, upright), still be righteous; and the one who is holy, still be holy.” 12 “Behold, I (Jesus) am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to the merit of his deeds (earthly works, faithfulness). 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One].” 14 Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) are those who wash their robes [in the blood of Christ by believing and trusting in Him—the righteous who do His commandments], so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs [the godless, the impure, those of low moral character] and the sorcerers [with their intoxicating drugs, and magic arts], and the immoral persons [the perverted, the molesters, and the adulterers], and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying (deception, cheating). 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you and to give you assurance of these things for the churches. I am the Root (the Source, the Life) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and bright Morning Star.” 17 The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, believers) say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take and drink the water of life without cost.Revelation 22:10-17 AMP
Jesus is telling us not only to say that we believe in Him because even the demon believe that God exists and they tremble. Jesus commands us to live like we believe in Him because ultimately this will be the standard by which we will be judged.
There are several sins that Jesus mentions here, but it’s not a comprehensive list. The point is for Christians to live righteous lives. 1 Peter 4:17 tells us that judgment shall begin at the house of God, and since that’s the case there is no hope for the unrepentant sinner.
What does Jesus want us to do?
Jesus doesn’t want people to remain in sin, but what He’s telling us is that the way that He finds you, that is exactly the way that you will remain. Who you are when you die, or when Jesus comes in the Rapture, is who you will be. We can’t reverse time and make things right. Today is the day of salvation! The Holy Spirit and the church say, “Come to Jesus!”
Have you made Jesus your Savior and the Lord of your life? Have you turned from sin and committed yourself to live a righteous life? If you have turned away from the faith for any reason, or simply abandoned your faith, then it’s time to repent and rededicate your life to Jesus. If you have never put your faith in Jesus, but want your sins to be forgiven and you want to go to heaven when you die, then commit your life to Jesus today.
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
