Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:9-10 NIV

This scripture is so clear, that not much interpretation is needed. One thing that we need more inside of the church is real love and genuine affection. Churches need to love across cultures, across titles, across appearances, and universally across denominations. Christ is not divided, so neither should the church be, seeing that we are the very Body of Christ.

The scripture tells us that love must be sincere. The NKJV says, “…without hypocrisy.” It’s not always about what we do, but it’s also about what we avoid doing so that we can live comfortably within our cliques. If Christians don’t express genuine concern for each other, why then would someone new to Christianity want to be a Christian.

Church has to change

We really have to watch what we value in church. Church is not just a place where there is an entertaining event every day of the week, otherwise, we’ll miss the point. When you go to church you should receive the pure word of God, and be reminded of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the reason for your faith. There should be fellowship flowing from the hearts of those whose souls have truly been converted, to reach others who would otherwise go unnoticed.

Indeed we must have a filter to decide what we will accept as the truth and that filter is the Word of God, which we need to be well acquainted with. We hate evil things that produce sin in us and embrace the good things that present no harm to our faith and families. We “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater,” as the saying goes.

Honor goes a long way

When we honor one another above ourselves, guess what? We make it virtually impossible to wrong a brother or sister in Christ, even though let’s admit, we are not always one hundred percent! Let’s be honest! This is the reason why Paul is writing this letter to the Roman Church. We need to be reminded all the time, even if we’re just having mental conversations with ourselves in our own heads.

The writer of Hebrews also says,

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Hebrews 10:25 NLT

Let’s just do it! Especially since we can see that it won’t be much longer now.

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
