 On the contrary “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Romans 12:20

I feel that the Holy Spirit has a message for someone who has a difficult job, that they have grown to dislike. It seems to me that there is somebody reading this, who functions in a position of authority over a certain number of employees and God has a word for you today. Even if you don’t fit any of these descriptions hear my testimony.

The Trilema

I had applied for a job and for a year I heard nothing back from them. One day my wife told me that she was pregnant, which was kind of a shock to me, but then she clarified her revelation and said that we were having twins. We had just gotten married and my job barely made enough money for me and my wife let alone four people, so fear overwhelmed me.

Then for some reason, I was filled with a peace that made no sense and I knew that was from God. Instead of fear, faith and excitement took over and I just began to pray to the Lord to provide the need, because I knew that If He saw fit for us to have two kids at once, then He had a double-portion blessing waiting for us, too. He really did!

That job that I applied for called me two weeks after my wife’s announcement and asked me if I wanted the job. Of course, I said yes! So things were going well and we were able to save up for our first apartment while we finished college, but the devil didn’t like it. I believe this was actually the toughest year that we had experienced to this day.

In that year my wife went into early labor and they wanted to abort the twins, but we declined and declared to them that God was in control. Our twins made it to thirty-one and a half weeks and are healthy to this day, but it was a long, stressful, yet faith-empowering journey. In saying that, something else went wrong!

I got a report telling me that my employer was expiring my job title and that I only had sixty days until my medical insurance would expire and I would be laid off. On the same day, some equipment was stolen at work and my boss blamed ME for it! Then she followed up with, “It doesn’t matter, because you’ll be gone soon anyway!”

The Wicked Witch of the West

Those WORDS! I could have breathed out fire at my boss like the two witnesses in the book of Revelation! My wife was pregnant and on bed rest in the hospital, holding onto our twins for dear life. I had just lost the job that was supposed to take care of our new family and pay for a place to live. Then this lady tells me something like that! I don’t know what held me back, but I walked off and yelled out in a secluded area.

The Bible tells us to do good to people like that! To bless and do not curse! How is that possible? Jesus says, “With God all things are possible.” All of these thoughts ran through my mind about my new enemy. Then that peace that makes no sense calmed me down slowly, but surely. I had to tell my wife and then we both concluded that prayer was the answer.

Happy Hour

Fast-forward a little. Our twins survived and were healthy. While I was excited about that, in the back of my mind I was still concerned. You know, the job thing! I kid you not. No more than two days after our baby was born, I got a call from my job and they offered me a position that paid twice as much as before. My wicked boss at the time had to officially offer me the job, in person. What the devil meant for evil, God turned it around for good and I mean everything!

I still had to work with the same boss in my new position, but the love of God vanquishes every enemy. Satan worked through her before, but God brought her to a place of desperation. My boss actually got a little spiritual with me, because I didn’t let the way she treated me, change me. I testified boldly to her about Jesus Christ and the changes she needed to make in order to please God.

God’s Purpose for our Enemies

This is in fact God’s plan for all of our enemies. They will not go unpunished. God is not mocked and things happen to them as a direct result of their actions against us. Make no mistake about it! Still, God does this to increase our faith and draw our enemies to Jesus, just like He did for us when we were enemies of God. In Ezekiel 18, God said,

Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign LORD. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live.

Ezekiel 18:23

Our enemies have no hope. This life is all they have to look forward to. They need Jesus, even if they might not want Him. So as Romans 12:20 says, we must, “…feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

You never know how God will use your enemies to bless you!

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
