Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,
Philippians 1:27-29
We need to understand today that anything can happen in our time. Yet, God is still in control. Our job is to live as Christians. In fact, Paul had confidence in the church, that we would stand the test of time and so do I.
I have this confidence because Jesus said, “…and the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.” The remnant of true Christians will not back down. We will not give in to satan’s social system. We will stand and after having done all to stand we will stand firm (Ephesians 6:13-14).
Jesus told us not to fear those who can kill the body but can’t kill the soul. He said to fear God who can destroy both in hell (Matthew 10:28). This fear is a deep respect honoring Him as God, creator, and ruler over our lives. Oh, so many have it all wrong because they have been deceived to think that God is supposed to do what they want, just so that He can have the reward of them believing in Him. Please! People are fooling themselves.
For those who do not care to respect God for who He is and those who turn against God’s people, our scripture tells us that they have one thing in common. Paul says, “This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.”
Lastly, we must accept the fact that we were not only saved to go to heaven and to do good works but as Philippians 1:29 says, “…to also suffer for Him.” If you want to live a godly, holy life you will be persecuted in some way, shape, or form. Yet, it is an honor to suffer for Jesus Christ and Paul tells us in Philippians 1:21, “To live is Christ and to die is gain.” Let us live for Jesus today!
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
