“So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” 23 He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’ ”

Luke 4:16-23

The First Coming of Christ

We were all poor and broken, slaves to sin, blind and oppressed by the devil. Then Jesus came in the power of almighty God and began to break the powers of darkness. Jesus defeated the hopeless plan of the devil by being hung on a cross to die and nailing our dirty sins on it.

For the true believer in Jesus Christ, He has made us richer than we could ever be on earth, wiser than the smart person in the world, and free to live righteous lives that count in Christ. He has performed a greater miracle than just healing a part of our body, which is temporary. Jesus has healed our souls eternally, if we remain in Him.

Jesus boldly rose up in the synagogue and read the scroll of Isaiah, taking His rightful place of honor as Redeemer and Savior of the world. He wasn’t coming to support the agenda of the priesthood. Jesus was giving them an eviction notice, because He would replace them as the High Priest of the Most High God, who didn’t offer animals to cover sins, but removes sin from all believers by His own blood.

Stop Looking for Approval

Jesus wasn’t looking for approval from the people, but saw the darkness of their hearts and proclaimed the truth, whether they liked it or not. It is so important that we follow in His footsteps and stop looking for the world’s approval just for us to talk about Jesus. We need to know that Jesus is God and not some mortal human being.

Reverence the Lord with your life, speak the truth in love and open your mouths to proclaim the salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Let your voices be heard in the streets and let your voices be heard on social media, that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead! Go out and tell somebody the good news.

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
