“Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”John 21:2-6, 11
They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.”
6And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.”
“…Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.”
“There’s No Space For God’s Plans”
We live in a world that tells us to follow our own path and that no one controls our lives except us. We determine the education that we receive, the job we get, the family we have – our future. Then, at the end of it all, there’s no room for God’s will.
The world leaves no space for us to receive instructions from the Lord. We’re constantly casting our nets for that one thing, trying to find a remedy for the emptiness, but we only end up frustrated, confused, and finally defeated. We need to put God first and make room for everything else.
Jesus has every single thing that we need. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He has it all figured out. Jesus said, “Apart from Me you can do nothing.”
You can go where you want, hang out with the people of your choice, and climb up the ladder in a career, but you will miss the most important thing and that is God’s purpose for your life if you don’t trust Him.
Your Now Future
Maybe you’ve already wasted 5, 10, 20, or even 40 years of your life avoiding the will of God, but as long as you’re alive you can change your mind and obey the instructions of the Lord. Your purpose may not be the same as it was 40 years ago, but God is ready to help you finish your race.
Jesus says, “Cast your net on the right side of the boat.” By praying, meditating on God’s word day and night, waiting on the Lord, and even fasting there’s no way you can’t fail. God gives you the victory through Christ Jesus and Jesus has His future prepared for you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”Jeremiah 29:11
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
