“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

ECCLESIASTES 3:11

Eternity And The End

We look forward to the end of things like the end of a movie, even though we enjoy it, and the end of the baking time so we can enjoy homemade desserts. We look forward to the end of the line so we can pay for our groceries and go home and the end of the road to make it to our destination, but don’t we have more to look forward to?

Yes, in fact, God has invited us into existence to share eternity with Him and to experience enjoyment that never ends. God has placed mankind and all creation in this space-time Continuum for our history and His record, but really, we exist in a timeless reality.

God has set eternity in the hearts of man, but most people don’t understand, that before the universe existed, there was heaven and there was God. We’re the new kids on the block.

The world is facing an identity crisis because they want to live in a reality without God and make up their own rules in rebellion against God, but their efforts are in vain and their plans will continue to be frustrated. God has created us with an internal longing for our creator and without Him we are hopelessly pitiful.

Acts 17:26-28 says,

“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28‘For in him we live and move and have our being…”

Acts 17:26-28

The end of our life is just the beginning of our eternal life, either in heaven or in hell. Once we are created by God in our mother’s womb and brought into existence, there is no real end. That’s why God was on a rescue mission to save us from the punishment of sin. He sent Jesus to die so that those who would turn away from the very sin that brought death and put their faith in Him, would be redeemed by God after death and enjoy the eternal rewards that God had prepared for us all along.

Why did God make life so short?

Life is short because we exist in a corrupt version of the world that God originally created good. The curse of death came through the sins of Adam and Eve and since then we’ve had to experience evil along with good. Yet, for the believer death is a good thing, because “…to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Don’t get too comfortable.

In Isaiah 57:1, the Bible says,

“The righteous perishes, And no man takes it to heart; Merciful men are taken away, While no one considers That the righteous is taken away from evil.”

Isaiah 57:1

In Hebrews 13:14 the Bible says,

“For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven.”

Hebrews 13:14

A Permanent Home For Eternity

The reason God loves us over all creation is that He created us in His own image and likeness and He wants us back. God has an everlasting home for His redeemed image. The Bible says that God “…made us a little lower than the angels,” but to God, we are His treasure, a prize possession, and unlike anything in all creation (1 Peter 2:9).

We don’t deserve this kind of love or salvation, but God, through Jesus Christ, stretched out His arms on a Roman cross to open the door to His grace, mercy, love, relationship, and everlasting life.

The Bible says, in Romans 5:8,

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

God wanted you then and He wants you now. He loved you then and He loves you now. We owe everything to Jesus, but all we have to give is ourselves and our obedience to His will for our lives.

Jesus died for you so that you could live for Him. He rose from the dead three days after He died and now when you die you will rise to be with Him.

Live for Jesus Christ now and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23:6).

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Romans 8:18

Don’t give up. Live out your God-given purpose and finish the race. Heaven is rooting for you.
