When you think of a father, what comes to mind? Many people might not think well of their own fathers, and some had superhero dads. Regardless of what you think, there is no perfect Father than God. He is full of love, abounding in forgiveness, mercy, justice, wisdom, power, and protection. In today’s Live Inspired Podcast, You will see God as The Strong And Faithful Father You Need!
9 So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed. 10 And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper. 11 So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned. 12 Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”
13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and afterward she may be received again.” 15 So Miriam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.
Numbers 12:9-15
Moses’ sister rebelled against him but didn’t realize that she was actually rebelling against God! Moses was still little brother to her, but she had to be corrected. God had words for her, but not only that, there was a price to pay. God called Moses and his siblings into the tabernacle, like parents call their children into the living room. He said,
“Come out you three, to the tabernacle of meeting. Then the lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron (Moses’ brother) and Miriam (Moses sister).”
Numbers 12:4
I can easily picture myself lowering the leg rest of my recliner to handle my children. Miriam faced consequences for criticizing Moses, believing he was unfit for his role and desiring to take charge herself.
Miriam displayed prejudice against the Ethiopian (Cushite) woman Moses had married, which led to her disrespecting God. As a result, she brought judgment upon herself and was stricken with leprosy by God.
Moses pleaded with God to pardon Miriam, showcasing his characteristic compassion and advocacy. God decreed that her punishment would not be fatal, but she would suffer from the illness for seven days. Through this narrative, God imparts a lesson on parenting, exemplifying the traits of an ideal father.
Many times, we say, “If you ask for forgiveness, He will wash away your sins”, and very true, but we have to understand that the consequences of our actions or non-action, can have short- or long-term effects.
Our children will not be good on their own and their bad behavior is not something they will just grow out of. As parents, we need to be consistent. Discipline bad behavior and stick to it! Our discipline will not kill our children. It should make them better children, better teens, and then better adults. Disciplining-not abusing your child, will save them, but if you continue to set them free from every consequence, they will become a slave to consequences.
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
