Today’s devotion, Superior Over The Most Disastrous Demonic Man, illustrates God’s power over the unseen and felt!
6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” Mark 5:6-7
The Celebration Of Demons
Throughout the years, I have spoken to many families, Christian or not about the true meaning behind halloween. While today’s devotion, isn’t about halloween, I want to mention that all the origins and even the customary practice of families “dressing up” is all related to the celebration of demons.
But did you know that demons are real? Yes, they are and even they will bow at the foot of Jesus and obey God’s every command!

Tormented By A “Legion” Of Demons
Mark 5:1-20 tells a powerful story of Jesus encountering a man tormented by a legion of demons. This man, isolated and overwhelmed by forces beyond his control, represents the deepest form of human suffering. But what happens next is a testament to God’s unmatched authority and compassion.
When Jesus steps onto the shore, the man runs to Him, and the demons immediately recognize Jesus’ as the Son of God, knowing their impending doom, they plead for mercy.
“What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!”
The Command Of The Lord
With just a command, Jesus frees the man from the torment that held him captive for so long. The demons are cast into a herd of pigs that rush down a steep bank into the sea. In that moment, the power of darkness is overcome by the power of the One who is light itself.
This story is a reminder that no matter how overwhelming our struggles or how strong the “demons” we face—whether they are fears, addictions, shame, or guilt—God is bigger and stronger than them all. The same Jesus who spoke freedom into the life of that tormented man is present in our lives today, ready to bring peace where chaos reigns and freedom where chains hold us down.
Superior Over The Most Disastrous Demonic Man
We often forget how powerful God truly is. We may think that our struggles are too great or our situation too hopeless, but Mark 5 shows us that Jesus doesn’t hesitate to walk into the darkest places to rescue us.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5, NIV).
This verse is our assurance that no matter how deep our suffering, God’s light will always prevail.
He Restores Us, Renews Us, And Empowers Us To Live With Purpose
After Jesus freed the man, he was found clothed and in his right mind, ready to share his testimony with others. This transformation illustrates not just deliverance, but restoration. God doesn’t just pull us out of our struggles; He restores us, renews us, and empowers us to live with purpose. The man’s story spread throughout the region, showing others the greatness of God’s mercy.
If you’re feeling trapped by your own “demons” today, remember that Jesus is greater. He stands on the shore of your life, ready to speak peace and freedom. All you need to do is come to Him. Just as Jesus saw the man and acted out of love and mercy, He sees you and will act with that same love.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).
He is bigger, stronger, and more powerful than anything you face, and He will never let darkness have the final word in your life.
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
