In Today’s Live Inspired Message, plans without the ultimate planner, are no plans at all! Let’s learn how to have a successful future!

Plans

One rainy morning, I found myself in line, listening to a stranger who was eagerly sharing her plans for the year. They were ambitious, stretching out to a two and three-year vision. She had so many dreams she wanted to chase—even the hope of marriage. Yet, in all her excitement, there was one vital thing missing—Christ.

As Christians, planning without Christ isn’t really planning at all. When we try to map out our future apart from God, we set ourselves up for disappointment.

One reason is that God already has a plan for us—plans for our well-being, not for harm, to give us “a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV). As we make our plans, we need to seek God’s guidance in prayer. Proverbs 21:5 (MSG) tells us that “Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run,” while rushing ahead leads to setbacks. Let’s make sure our plans are guided by the One who knows what’s best for us.

Dreams

All our dreams and desires should be brought before the Lord, if something is not in His will, He will guide us away from it.  When we allow Gods perfect will to be done in our lives, then even if we “may stumble,” we “will never fall.” For the Lord upholds us with His hand. (Psalm 37:24)

Think of King David, whom the Lord declares “a man after Gods own heart.” God had many plans for David, yet his life was filled with challenges and trials. He had to trust that God was always with him, and he consistently put himself into His hands – the Creator who is both Author and Finisher of our lives. (1Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22, Hebrews 12:2)

David made many plans, but the ones entrusted to the Lord succeeded. Gods plans are just greater. Many times, we hear David cry out for something to be done in his timing but realizing that the Lord does things in HIS timing, because He doesn’t live in time like us.

And so, David says,

“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; WAIT, I say, on the Lord.”

Psalm 27:14 Do your plans include Christ, are you planning a future aside from God?  Have you forgotten to take your hopes and dreams to the Lord, who guides us? It’s not too late to include Him. Present your plans to Jesus, He will order your steps, for “The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the LORD: and He delighteth in his way.” (Psalm 37:33)
