Family Bible Study Topic: The Beatitudes
The Beatitudes start off a section in The Book of Matthew called the Sermon on the Mount.
The Beatitudes, or Blessings, are like an introduction to the rest of the chapters in Matthew.
Each beatitude looks at different circumstances of life and how all Christians are blessed through our faith. Jesus teaches us virtues and values in life that will result in blessings and rewards as we walk in His will. These blessings are applicable to every Christian, following Jesus Christ.
We are to store up our riches in heaven! Matt 6:19-21

Matthew 5:4
God blesses those who mourn,
For they will be comforted.
God is our ONLY comforter, and you cannot receive the comfort of God until you receive the Holy Spirit.
The blessing is not just upon all that mourn, but those who mourn in reference to sin. We are comforted by the discovery and acceptance of God’s pardon, Jesus Christ dying on the Cross for us.

Matthew 5:5
God blesses those who are humble,
For they will inherit the whole earth.
Humbleness is trusting that God will take care of you, no matter what. As Christians, we stand up for what is right, and don’t seek revenge. Our battles are fought by God.
