Mourn
Blessed are those who mourn

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Matthew 5:4

Our Comforter

God is our ONLY comforter, and you cannot receive the comfort of God until you receive the Holy Spirit.

15If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:15-16

The blessing is not just upon all that mourn, but those who mourn in reference to sin. We are comforted by the discovery and acceptance of God’s pardon, Jesus Christ dying on the Cross for us.

Romans 12:9 “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”

2 Peter 2:8 “Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.”

To Mourn

To mourn in the scripture for today, as in these means to hate sin and love God, longing for God to redeem us from this corrupt world and make things right again.

So many of us have had to face many hardships, and much of us have had to endure deaths of loved ones, and friends. Unfortunately, death and grief are a direct consequence of the curse from the first sin, by Adam and Eve. Nevertheless, there’s hope!

Although times might be and seem hard right now, Jesus promises us a blessing in it.

We must trust, that, no matter what, Christ’s plan is bigger than our own and weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)

As a Christian when devastation or sadness hits us, we are comforted by the Holy Spirit, but without Jesus there can only be an expectation of more grief.

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
