The dreaded hamster wheel
I’m sure you’ve been in a pet store and saw a hampster running non-stop on a hamster wheel. Those tiny animals run around and around, going absolutely nowhere. That’s pretty much the life of a domesticated hampster.
Life can be that way
Life can be that way too, if you let it. I have learned over the years that not only can God do the things that He’s done for me in the past, but He can also do new things for me. I don’t have to live in the past and in past blessings, I can move forward and so can you.
I can thank God for all He has done, and ask Him to show me the new things He has planned for my life. Sometimes we limit God, because we don’t think we deserve anything else, and that’s true because God doesn’t owe us anything, but do you want to know another truth? God wants to do great things in your life!
Pray for new things.
Don’t be afraid to pray for the vision or dream, the new things God has for you. Pray that God will take you to new places, meet new people who you can encourage with His Word and through whom you can also be encouraged. Ask God to do a new thing in your life. The bible says,
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.James 1:6-8
God has created us to go forward, not backward. He made us to be doers, not quitters, and He did not make us to be complacent.
Complacency is boring
Try to avoid the rat race, aimlessly running, repeating the same strategies over and over, year after year, trying to get different results. It’s draining and depressing.
My prayer for you is that you will open yourself up to the new things God has in store for your life. My hope is that you would be able to embrace the changes God brings to fulfill your calling and keep moving forward in Christ. Run the race set before you, not someone else’s, and know that every day you get one step closer to the prize that God has laid up for you if you don’t give up.
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
