In today’s devotion, we inspire you to train up your children in the ways of the Lord, and in turn, they will not destroy themselves.
Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it…Proverbs 22:6
That’s The Hope
Of course, there is no guarantee that our children will not destroy themselves by participating in the wickedness of the world today. But raising them up in Christ, teaching them how to be a “Christian,” and modeling it, can actually save their lives.

I am committed to raising my children in Christ. Even if this seems “weird” to others. I am committed to raising godly children to produce more godly children.
Training up a child involves shaping and guiding a child to fulfill God’s purpose for that child. It is uniquely training and raising a child for his or her God-given assignment. Stirring the child in the right direction.
This declaration is a commitment to teach your children the ways of the Lord. That is, to make God known to your children. It means you are committed to teach your children what pleases God and how God manifests Himself. It involves modeling what a life of faith in God looks like while teaching your children to live a life of faith.

He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. Psalms 103:7
It looks like teaching your children how to pray and why they should pray rather than assuming they are too young to learn the things you do as a Christian parent. Children learn pretty fast that prayer changes things, and when times get tough, they are usually the first to remind you to pray!
Carry your children along in your relationship with God and start at an early age when neural pathways are formed based on the child’s experience.
Invite Your children
A Christian parent invites their children into their Secret Place with God. Instead of being overly private in our prayers, it’s okay to show vulnerability and that we are depending on God to carry us through a situation. This will strengthen our child’s faith as they grow up. They will learn to depend on God and live for Him through our faith.
In doing this, her children do not only see God at work in the home, but they also know God for themselves (Psalms 103: 7). They know what honoring God looks like and the fruits it brings. They learn to abhor wickedness and the lusts of the flesh. To cling to what is good and LIVE for Christ, without destroying themselves.
Reflection:
How can I help my child(ren) grow in faith?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege to be called your son/daughter. Help me to honor my commitment to train up my child(ren) in your ways. Give me the wisdom to train up my child(ren) in your ways. In Jesus name. Amen.
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
