Setting a mighty example is a powerful way to live out our Christian values and inspire others. In “How To Set A Mighty Example,” we explore Philippians 2;14-15 with a challenge.
“In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of people who are crooked and stubborn. Shine out among them like beacon lights.”
Philippians 2;14-15
Set A Mighty Example.
Have you faced a challenging situation recently? Reflect on how you responded.
When we are tested by others, it can be difficult to let our light shine. Yet, this is precisely what we are called to do. God desires us to exhibit “class,” which means being poised, graceful, mature, and demonstrating these qualities in our dress, mannerisms, language, and daily life. Such a person possesses excellent self-control, is gentle, soothing, and unoffensive.
I can think of a recent encounter I had while shopping with my toddler…
A lady was getting too close to his stroller, and I wanted her to get back, personal space is really lacking today, but I digress. Suddenly I heard a cough, and my first thought was “No she didn’t cough over my baby!” Before I knew it, I muttered the words “filthy and disgusting” towards her and moved to another isle. But once I was in the next isle, my daughter who was with me, said, “Mom, that was me coughing.” That wasn’t a shining moment for me. Maybe you have had a similar encounter.
We cannot change people…
BUT we can be the change in the World, that they need to see.
The ten commandments were given to Moses and the Israelites, as a mirror. It was to help them see the sin in their lives and teach them how to deal with it.
God has given us His unadulterated Word, which allows us to see our sin and how to move away from it. How to ask God for the help we need to stay true to His Word. To help us allow His Word to be a lamp unto our feet. Let’s use it to be a beacon of light in this dark world.
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
