Worrying Leads to Anxiety. Woman Holding Her Head @ Randomnestfamily.org

No time? Listen instead!

“So my counsel is: Don’t worry about things—food, drink, and clothes. For you already have life and a body—and they are far more important than what to eat and wear.

Look at the birds! They don’t worry about what to eat—they don’t need to sow or reap or store up food—for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are.

Will all your worries add a single moment to your life?

“And why worry about your clothes? Look at the field lilies! They don’t worry about theirs.

Yet King Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as beautifully as they.

And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t he more surely care for you, O men of little faith?

â€œSo don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them,

and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to.

“So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.

Matthew 6:25-34 TLB

It’s so easy for us to get caught up in worrying about tomorrow. The news is the manufacturer of worry and fear – some real, but many times just another story to boost their ratings. What’s worrying you today? Is it Covid-19, natural disasters, the economy, your child’s education, your education, or maybe church?

Be Honest about your worrying!

We must be honest about our worries – David was.

Search me, God, and know my heart; Put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts;

Psalm 139:23

He knew that the key to trusting God and depending on Him was: being honest about his “anxious thoughts”, prayer, and surrendering those cares of the world to God.

Here’s another scripture:

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, having cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares about you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:6-11 NASB

How many thoughts do you think you have in a given day? Research shows the average person has about 60,000. That is a thought every second and a quarter. Thoughts stressed Jesus. On the cross, he had to deal with the knowledge that God had forsaken him because of our sin (Mark 15:33–34). David had a lot of stress with Saul trying to kill him, as well as, conquering a country and ruling a kingdom – Christianity Today.

But if we lean on Jesus, and His will for our lives, He will give us peace.

Here’s a Prayer

Lord help me to be faithful, help me to put you first. Take away the anxieties that I have in my life. I want to depend on you alone. Give me the desire to pray, give me a HUNGER for your word, and reveal to me your will for my life. Father, I love you, and I know that I can do ALL things through Christ. Thank you Father! In Jesus Christ holy name, Amen!
