5 Amazing New Things to Treasure from St. Patrick’s Life

St Patrick’s Day is celebrated every year on March 17^th, and It all started as a  feast day to celebrate Patrick, who brought Christianity into Ireland, during the fifth century. Today, St. Patrick’s Day has become highly secularized, but going back to the roots of Patrick, here are 5 amazing new things to treasure from St. Patrick’s life.

From St. Patrick, We Can Learn…

That We Can Trust God With Our Lives.

My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors! Ps. 31:15 ESV

In his life, many times Patrick needed rescue, and he needed to put his trust solely in the Lord. Today, you can trust God with your life too. Know that He has a plan for you, and He will see it through.

We Can Trust His Authority And Power Over Everything.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs. 19:21 ESV

Patrick went back to a place where He was kidnapped and evangelized to all Ireland. He needed to trust God’s authority and power over every situation he encountered. We also need to trust God’s authority and power over our lives, and trust his process, and let his will be done.

We can trust that He has a plan even in the darkest of times.

For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield…. Ps. 5:12 ESV

When Patrick was held captive for 6 years in Ireland, as a teen, his faith grew, and he grew closer to the Lord. He knew God had a plan even though this was a very dark time in his life. What are you going through today? Whatever it maybe, know that God has a plan for you, no matter how it looks right now. We will pray with you!

We can know that God is always with us, helping us to be bold and courageous, and that His plans are good, and greater than our plans.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 ESV

Patrick’s evangelism mission to Ireland, was nothing short of anxiety, stress, sadness, and some hopelessness… The things we can all experience as Christians. Just because there is a plan for us, doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. But God does call us to be bold and courageous.

Whatever plans God has for you today, may you walk boldly in them, trusting Him and knowing that His plans are greater than yours. When He calls you to it, He will see you through it.

God’s Sovereignty

We are also able to see Gods amazing sovereignty and blessings over Patrick, from his obedience to the call of evangelization, his strong prayer life, and faithfulness.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15 ESV

Let us go into all the world, which is everywhere you are going today- school, work, parks, etc. And proclaim the Word of God. Our mission, just like Patrick’s, is to spread God’s Word wherever we are. We don’t have to be a missionary overseas, but right where we are. How are you spreading God’s word today?
