In life, there are times when God grants us tranquility and we bask in His peace. Yet, there are also moments when He guides us onto a boat amidst the sea, and unexpectedly, a storm arises, disrupting our calm and prompting us to question, “Where did this come from?” In today’s podcast, A Proven Sword or The Gift of Peace, we will discover why.
22 Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. 23 After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.
Matthew 14:22-24
A Proven Sword
Jesus was aware that this would occur, but God is all about stirring things up. Why? Because without it, our faith would become complacent, stale, and stagnant, like salt that has lost its flavor. Indeed, God does not spare us from every affliction.
The righteous person faces many troubles,
Psalm 34:19
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
The Gift of Peace
Have you ever prepared a protein shake without blending the powder with water or milk, or cooked ground meat in a skillet without crumbling it and adding seasoning? Just as the protein shake and ground meat require specific steps to reach their intended state, so too does one’s Christian journey depend on God’s guidance. Peace is unnecessary without unrest, and in times of turmoil, we turn to Jesus for solace.
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
Matthew 14:27
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
