Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

Romans 12:21

The devil seeks to conquer your faith in any way he can. He wants to destroy your good Christian character, so that you can be more like him and less like God.

In those moments of decision, where you have to either follow the flesh or the Spirit, Satan will twist the truth. He’s been doing this since the garden of Eden. He has studied mankind and knows just how to push our buttons, but to disable the devil, we must deactivate those buttons that trigger us.

We can’t let people have that much power over us. We can’t allow situations to have that much control over us. I always ask my older kids, “Why do you let your little sisters bring you down to their level (when they get on their nerves)?”

But here’s the truth. Adults, do the same thing! We let people shape who we are, what we say, what we wear, what we agree with, and even how we feel about ourselves. Why do we do this? It’s because, believe it or not, many of us are easily influenced.

Conquer Identity

Our identity should not be defined by those things, it should be found in Christ. Enemies need to be put to shame by our righteous conduct. Accusers need to be silenced by our reputation of good works and love toward others.

Evil can’t conquer good when good is present, because evil is nothing but the absence of good. So, if you conquer evil by doing good, then evil has no power over you.

We are children of God and the Bible says,

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

Ephesians 5:1

Then the Bible says in the book of Colossians,

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Colossians 3:5-10

The World is Passing Away

God wants us to stay off of the path of destruction because His wrath will judge all who practice evil. He is setting apart the sheep from the goats, the wheat from the weeds, and the obedient from the disobedient so that there will be an obvious difference between those who are for Jesus and those who are against Jesus.

The world and all of its evil ways are perishing as the days go by. It’s becoming harder and harder to pretend to be a Christian in America because the moral lines have been drawn. This brave new culture in our society wants nothing to do with God and people are no longer ashamed to say it.

If we look at the circumstances of Christians in other countries, nobody in their right mind would try to pretend to be a Christian. So many Christians are being slaughtered for their faith in terrible ways.

The Bible says,

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. 2For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. 3So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? 4And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.

Hebrews 2:1-4 NLT

Conquer the World LYLS

Evil can conquer us in many ways, but if we let evil conquer us then who’s side are we really on? Until Christ comes back this world is going to keep getting worse and worse, but “if God is for us who can be against us (Romans 8:31).”

We must “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses (1 Timothy 6:12).”

Lastly, Jesus told the Apostle John in the book of Revelation,

“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11Let the one who does wrong still do wrong, and the one who is filthy still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous still practice righteousness, and the one who is holy still keep himself holy.” 12“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to reward each one as his work deserves. 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” 14Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life, and may enter the city by the gates. 15Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.”

Revelation 22:10-15

Salvation Plan

Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:

God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

How To Turn Towards What Matters Most

“True humility, honest prayer, and genuine repentance are the keys to intimacy with God. And we can’t fake it. We can’t just go through the motions. We can’t merely pretend to “look” humble and repentant … and we can’t do these things on our own….” So, how to turn towards What Matters Most?
