In Today’s devotion, we see why Christians need the fearless willpower to actually obey God over men.
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. –Romans 13:1 NKJV
No matter who is in authority, God has appointed them to be there.
Our job is to follow the rules that do not go against what we believe as Christians.
For we are told to obey God rather than men when something goes contrary to God’s Word,
Obey God Over Men
Acts 5:28-29 gives us a great example of this…
29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”
The authorities warned Peter not to preach the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus, but Peter famously says, “We ought to obey God rather than men.”
Fearless Willpower To Actually Obey God Over Men
Bringing this back to Romans 13, the Bible tells us that we do not need to be afraid of authority when we do what is right.
If we purposely do the wrong thing, we bring judgement on ourselves.
So, we are to be subject to authority but live our lives following God’s Word, and God’s Word doesn’t go against authority, but sets the foundation for authority. Which is why our constitution is based off the morals and standards of the Bible.
We can be confident that God is in charge of the person He has chosen to be President in the United States of America, God is behind it all!
Daniel 2:20-22
“20 Daniel answered and said:
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
22 He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.”
We are blessed as a nation when we pray for our leaders, especially those who make it a point to consider Christian values and the morals this county was established upon.
“Therefore I [a]exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in [b]authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and [c]reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:1-4
Salvation Plan
Today, if you have not received Salvation or you would like to rededicate your life back to Christ, say this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner. Right now, Lord, I turn from my sins, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave, for me. I open my heart and life for You to come in, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, God for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
