What’s Your Reason?

This article will talk about Reasons to homeschool and love it. Homeschool is best done when you have reasons to do it. Every homeschool reason will be different. Some parents go into homeschooling because:

  • They think it will be fun, as they watch other homeschool parents do it.
  • Maybe their child isn’t thriving in public school, and they want a better education.
  • Faith based reasons and moral reasons.
  • Parents want to customize and individualize the curriculum and learning environment for their child.
  • Want positive and healthy social experiences for their child.
  • Or obtain better academic opportunities.

Whatever your reasons are to homeschool, school choice is a win for all parents, because now, you don’t have to be locked into compulsory schooling.

Victory in school choice? Here is a cool recap by the ACLJ from Jun 30, 2020. There have been many other breakthroughs SINCE then!

Many parents now have a choice!

If you want your kids to go to that wonderful Christian school, that you have been looking at for years, that option is now opening!

However, what we really love about school choice, is the choice to homeschool your kids.

School choice, essentially, is legislation providing access to alternatives to traditional public schools, such as private schools, charter schools, and homeschooling.

Every state is different, and you need to know what’s possible for your state.

Homeschooling is best started when your child is 1 ½ to 3yrs of age. This makes the process easier for you and the child as they age. They begin to know what’s expected of them, and you can grasp knowledge of what educational approach to take with them.

This video is of our youngest daughter Faith, nearly eight years ago.

If you don’t have any reasons to homeschool, besides the fact that you want to do it, maybe we can convince you in this article. These reasons will help you stand your ground, when in doubt! With that being said, let’s get into the reasons to homeschool, and why you should love it!

Safety

The first reason to homeschool your kids is for safety.

Your kids are not just coming up against bullies, and peer pressure anymore, but the government and health. Especially if your child has a precondition to anything.

Now more than ever, you have to make sure that your kids can go anywhere safely. Personally, for me, it’s a struggle getting everyone geared up to live on the outside, away from home. Going to a store takes hours, when before, it was 30 minutes.

Let alone when someone is tired and cranky and refuse to mask and glove!

Church? Let’s just say that if I don’t get up and have things together, we might not make it. Mask are not popular in my home.

So why force your kids to wear them six to eight hours out of the day?

Homeschool keeps your kids safe from predatory teachers and yes, unfortunately students. Especially teachers and administrators, that push drugs on your kids, because they consider them to have a behavior problem.

Public schools have a record of over medicating kids to make it easier to for the teachers in the classroom.

Never mind the peer pressure to do drugs, to dress a certain way, to live a certain way.

Christian children need a Christian education. This takes me to my next point:

Homeschool is ordained by God!

As for me,” God says, “this is my covenant with them: My Spirit that I’ve placed upon you and the words that I’ve given you to speak, they’re not going to leave your mouths nor the mouths of your children nor the mouths of your grandchildren. You will keep repeating these words and won’t ever stop.” God’s orders.”

Isaiah 59:21 MSG

How can this happen if we are not teaching our kids, we are sending them off to the wolves unprepared. Many parents have told me, “I want my kids to be salt and light at their school.

This is impossible for many reasons, but the first reason is that God did not send them out with the great commission, that’s our job! We are supposed to be salt and light wherever we go, and then teach our kids.

Second, as kids, they are in an institution, where if their voices are not united with the rest, they are ostracized, bullied, and left out by teachers.

The teachers, with their own agendas, do not want to hear what your Christian kid has to say and will voice it. There is nothing you can do about it, or they will black label your child and give them a hard time everywhere they go. True story!

No matter how you put it, allowing your kids to go to a public school to be a light, will not change that school or the teachers, they are expected to not talk about their faith or pray. Instead, they dive deep into the studies of other religions before they can effectively learn their own.

Here are some other scriptures to support my point:

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.” Isaiah 54:13

There’s more where that came from!

A must!

Homeschool is a must for today’s society, school choice is a must for today’s society.

My third reason, values, this can go along with what I was talking about above.

Schools are not teaching academics anymore; good teachers are rare and in between!

Kids as young as five, are being politically indoctrinated. Learning about sex education and gender confusion.

Babies are being taught that if they are not happy with the way God made them, if there is a God, they say, probably mother nature, they can change how they look. They can change and be ANYONE they want.

Don’t get me started with drag queen story hour!

Parents have asked me in the past, “What about your child’s socialization skills?”

I would have to write an entire blog on this! But to keep it short, let’s just say that a true sense of community is found in homeschooling.

I’ve said this in a past video, I believe my Homeschool 101 video.

Think of it this way: good socialization and bad socialization.

Teachers cannot watch every student all the time, what are kids showing your kids regarding music, videos, the internet. What are the teachers telling your kids?

Do not be misled:

“Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

Let’s get into my next two reasons:

Individualized education.

You give your child an individualized education.

There are so many educational approaches and ways to homeschool. I have tutorials dedicated to helping you decide which one and way is best for you. I also offer consultations to help direct you.

Homeschool gives your child one on one with you. It does not matter how many kids you have. They will benefit from homeschooling with their parents.

I homeschool four girls with three different levels. Once you can see where they are academically, you will be able to see what works with your teaching style.

Yes, as parents we CHOOSE our teaching styles, because just like every child is different, so are the parents.

If your child has an I.E.P, homeschool is a great option.

1-on-1 time!

In fact, homeschooling is the BEST I.E.P for a child who has one. An I.E.P. is an Individualized Education Program. They can be short, or extensive, either way, the public schools get finances for every kid labeled in an I.E.P.  They vary, and each state is different.

Parents with kids that have an I.E.P. and decide to homeschool, do not need all the necessary extras. You learn what helps your child, their pace, and go from there.

Of course, if your child has serious special needs, you are going to need more help. But homeschool is still not out of the question.

Kids that have an Individualized Education Program, that can function normally will be able to decide what they want to learn. No school factories allowed.

Most kids with I.E.P’s usually feel less worthy, they are sometimes put into slow classes where most students are not on their level, some being slower and needing more help.

This means less help for your child. They will start to act out, feel as if no one cares, and fall into bad behavior, where parents and teachers can’t stand them.

Why let a child go through that? Help your child keep their self-worth! I have had personal encounters with this.

You Raise Your Own Child

In Conclusion, parents get a chance to raise their own children and give them a great education at the same time.

Homeschooling is not hard, its all about how you want it to be. Like I said, I have made tutorials covering this.

Parents get to choose when they want to go on vacations, dr. appointments and when they want to start a program for their child, when their child can climb the educational ladder, etc., Without answering to the government.

Many homeschool parents have their kids attending online college junior courses at 15 years old!

Not to mention slow living and planning out your own schedule. Homeschool DOES NOT have to look like a typical classroom or a typical 6-8hr school day.

Kids can maintain a love for school, explore, and learn by working with their parents.

I love to say this: homeschooling is learning for parents and their kids, it’s a family affair!

So those are the reasons to homeschool, and why you should love it.
